"Inspiring and achieving together, using our unique gifts given to us by God"
Welcome to St Teresa’s
St Teresa's School Announcement
Sadly the Board of Trustees of St Teresa’s School has taken the decision, at the end of a staff consultation process, to make all staff of the School redundant. This decision, in effect, means that St Teresa’s School will close at the end of this term (15th July).
Regrettably, as a result of the many challenges, not least the significant economic impact of COVID-19 (pandemic), the Board have reached the conclusion that we would risk becoming insolvent during the course of the 2020-21 academic year should we continue in operation. In order to ensure that we are able to meet our obligations, the decision has been made that it is necessary to close and, as a result, all staff, sadly, have been given notice of their redundancy.
We are at a point where words simply fail us, as we are all incredibly sad that our amazing school, after 75 years, is now in its last two weeks. Since our beloved school was founded in 1945, when the parish priest, Father Dreves, invited the Daughters of Jesus to open a parish school; through its continuation by a group of parents, led by Celia and Alan Sparkes, who saved the school from closure when the nuns left in 1970; until now, when our school is to close, we know our school has always been filled with compassion and love.
We all keenly feel the loss of our precious school community. Some of us have been blessed with a connection to St Teresa’s stretching back over forty years, others have only recently become part of this special place. We hope that these remaining days of school will afford pupils, staff and families the time to say good bye and celebrate their experience of St Teresa’s School together.
Thank you to all those in the local community who have sent kind messages of support, they have all been much appreciated.
