Assessment information

Our pupils are regularly assessed, both formally and informally, so that their teachers can monitor their progress and put support in place quickly, whenever needed.

Pupils in Year Six take the Key Stage Two SATs, and this year our Year Two pupils are taking the Key Stage One SATs.

We also offer the opportunity for pupils to sit the Transfer Test, the admissions test for local grammar schools, if their parents wish them to.  In Year Four and Year Five pupils take CAT (Cognitive Ability Test) tests online and these results, alongside discussion with the class teacher and completion of our ‘Pupil Passport’, helps to inform parents about the most appropriate choice of secondary school for their child.  We are a non-selective school and therefore our results vary each year, depending on the cohort of children and the number of parents who decide to enter their children for the test.  Those pupils that do sit the test, do so in their own classroom, with teachers they are familiar with, and then celebrate with cookies!  In 2018, 60% of those children who sat the Transfer Test achieved the qualifying mark required to gain a place at grammar school.  (The average percentage of children achieving the qualifying mark at St Teresa’s, from 2013 to 2018, was 76%.)
