Our Year Two teacher is Mrs Simmons, with Mr Palmer teaching on a Friday.
Year Two is a fun packed year with lots of exciting topics! The Advent term bursts into action with a study of 'Towers, Tunnels and Turrets'. We look at the history of castles, tunnels and bridges, make them out of Lego and other suitable materials and draw them in art and computing. Our trip this year was to Waddesdon Manor to look and retell the story of Sleeping Beauty. The second half of the Advent term, starts off with creating our own instruments for our study of 'Beat, Band Boogie'!
In our English lessons we do a lot of talking about writing, culminating in writing our own pieces. We study several books, such as 'A lion in the meadow', 'Dear Teacher' and 'Matilda's cat'. We have used BBC Bitesize for grammar and spelling in our SPAG lessons.
In our computing lessons, we look at www.thinkuknow.co.uk to revise the importance of how to stay safe online. We are also supported with internet searching.
We are now the top of Key Stage One and we are given more responsibility. In the dining room, we lay the tables, say Grace after meals and do several jobs to tidy up at the end. In our classroom, we all change our own reading books and have our own role within the class. We are now aiming to join up our writing.
For our 'Beat that' challenges in mathematics, we work hard on our number bonds, addition and multiplication by 2, 5 and 10 under timed conditions!
Another highlight for this term is our swimming lessons, ending with a double session on water safety, an essential life skill. All of our Year Two children have the opportunity to be part of our Key Stage One Nativity play.
