ISA Netball Festival - October 2016
St Teresa's girls shine in their first netball tour at the ISA's inaugural Netball Festival, held at Condover Hall, Shropshire on 14-16 October 2016.
On Friday, 14 October St Teresa's girls went on their first netball tour to Condover Hall in Shropshire. Once the teams had settled into their dorms, they joined a High Ropes course and climbed the Gladiator Wall as team building activities. After dinner they went on to play grid of stones and laser quest which were great fun.
The ISA tournament was held on Saturday. The Year 5 and Year 6 teams played eight matches each in a very long day of netball. The weather for Sunday was not looking good, so the Saturday session was extended to complete the tournament. Our teams did very well against some stiff opposition. The matches were officiated by professional umpires and the girls learnt a lot and steadily improved with each match, which was lovely to see. This has been an excellent start to the year and they should really reap the benefit in their future matches. The Year 6 team came 4th and the Year 5 team came 8th overall. They day was ended meeting, chatting and having a question and answer session with Stacey Francis, an England netballer. Stacey was very generous with her time and gave the girls a real insight into the life of a top level player.
We awoke on Sunday morning to torrential rain! Fortunately the girls could have a go at tunnelling, laser games and circus skills. The weather brightened up, so we had the run of all of the outdoor activities too. After archery, abseiling, low ropes and zip wire, it was time to go home.
Very well done to all of the girls - you were stars - and a big thank you to Mrs Roberts and Mr Stenning for accompanying us.
